Today Wellbeing First is designed to help individuals, leaders, small businesses and workplaces to put their wellbeing first, always.

Wellbeing First is the merging of Founder Philly's original passion project, The Wellbeing Junkie, and her workplace wellbeing consultancy Wellbeing Tick. These businesses started with Philly’s unwavering commitment to her own wellbeing, which soon evolved into a passion to help others find the same level of fulfilment, vibrancy and energy in life.

Philly's Story

The journey to Wellbeing First started with a wake-up call in my late 20s. My carefree, happy-go-lucky lifestyle had taken a toll on my health, and I knew something had to change. For years, I was caught in a cycle of binge drinking, sugar addiction, gut issues, skin problems, and reliance on medication. I saw specialists, tried every diet under the sun, and experimented with countless treatments - but nothing truly worked until I discovered the power of real food, mindful movement, and sustainable lifestyle choices.

That revelation kicked off a lifelong pursuit of getting high on life, naturally. I realised our bodies have an innate intelligence to heal themselves - no quick fixes or medication needed, just the right fuel, habits, and mindset.


Since 2011, I’ve been on a personal wellbeing journey—healing my gut, clearing my skin and regulating my cycle. Along the way, I’ve quit alcohol, ultra-processed food and sugar, overcome loneliness to embrace being a free agent (aka single!) and run my first marathon at 43 - all while embracing my 40s with energy, vitality, and no medications.

 
By living with intention and putting my wellbeing first, I'm so proud of myself for creating a lifestyle and business that allows me to experience life in its fullest expression of joy, vibrancy, and adventure!

No hangovers, burnout or toxic relationships - instead a life free from comparison, people-pleasing, stress, and excuses!
 
I hit my career sweet spot in 2015 when I merged my passion for wellbeing with my HR profession, leading a triple-award-winning wellbeing programme at Chorus. That experience sparked my dedication to workplace wellbeing and inspired me to become a qualified nutritionist. By 2019, I had transitioned to a four-day workweek to launch The Wellbeing Junkie, my former nutrition and wellbeing coaching business.

But I had a fire within me to make an even bigger impact. I got sick of seeing businesses prioritising work over their people’s wellbeing - rewarding overwork, mistaking token perks for culture change, and creating burnout. With the support of my incredible mentor, I took a leap of faith and launched Wellbeing Tick, a global workplace wellbeing accreditation programme - now the flagship offering at Wellbeing First.

Today, I challenge old school thinking, disrupt toxic work cultures, and prove that putting wellbeing first isn’t just good for people - it’s good for business. Because let’s be real: if 57% of Kiwis are at high risk of burnout, we need systemic and sustainable change.

Wellbeing First is the culmination of my own journey—and my mission to help others thrive, whether they’re an individual, leader, small business owner, or part of a workplace seeking lasting, meaningful change.

Walking the Walk
I take great pride in walking the walk when it comes to my own wellbeing. During my 4-Day workweek, I set firm boundaries like exercising every morning, finishing my day before the clock strikes five, working in deep-focus sprints and staying offline and work-free during evenings, weekends and holidays.

Outside of work, I’m a meditator, podcast binge-listener, yogi, runner, amateur mountain biker, hiker, nature lover, snowboarder, and real-food enthusiast—to name just a few of my healthy addictions.  Plus I'm happily alcohol, sugar, UPF and medication free!

My Mantra?
